The new book,
GANADARA: The Script
That Writes All the World's Sounds,
takes readers on a comprehensive
journey starting from the history of human scripts,
through East Asian writing systems,
the creation principles of Hunminjeongeum,
and its commentary manuscript (Haeryebon),
up to the future of Hangul and Korean culture.
Expanding in greater depth on a popular
Hunminjeongeum lecture series that
accumulated over 5 million views,
the book will be published on October 9—marking
both the 580th anniversary of the promulgation of
Hunminjeongeum and
the 100th anniversary of "Gagyanal,"
the precursor to Hangul Day.
The author, Lee Hyun-jun, CEO of eKYSS,
has been in the language education
business for 25 years.
He started with a children's English
educational video business in 2001
and went on to launch services such as
the integrated language learning platform "MyPool"
and the Korean learning service for
non-native speakers "GANADARA."
Composed of five parts, the book sequentially examines
historical exchanges between
the Silla Kingdom and the outside world,
he origins of writing systems and East Asian scripts,
as well as the creation principles
and Haeryebon of Hunminjeongeum,
before ultimately presenting
the author's perspective on the future of
